Animals Matter® and L.A. Dog Company® are manufacturers of luxury pet accessories dedicated to providing innovative comfort, safety and style. The Companion Collection® includes functional yet fashion-forward car seats, safety harnesses, ramps, stairs, beds, loungers and floor cushions, and has been designed to fit the lifestyles of companions everywhere and the people who love them.

Animals Matter® is also dedicated to the support of the non-profit animal rescue and welfare organization Downtown Dog Rescue, which cares for the abused, abandoned, neglected and injured dogs in the "Skid Row" area of downtown Los Angeles.

After the adoption of two of our own animal companions, Katie and Daisy, from Downtown Dog Rescue, we were inspired by the tireless efforts of the volunteer organization to provide a safe haven for animals in need. The Companion Collection® was created with the idea that Animals Matter®, and that all dogs and cats deserve a good home and a good life, regardless of age, breed or lineage.

Downtown Dog Rescue

Downtown Dog Rescue, an affiliate program of Friends For Animals, is a unique organization making a difference for the many sick, neglected and abandoned dogs who have ended up living on the streets of Los Angeles. The seven-year-old volunteer program finds homes for strays roaming the streets and alleys, supplies veterinary services to animal companions of the city’s homeless population, and provides an on-going free spay and neuter outreach program for homeless and other low-income pet guardians.

Founded by Lori Weise and Richard Tuttlemondo, General Manager and Operations Manager of Modernica Furniture in downtown Los Angeles, Downtown Dog Rescue is located in the back of the Modernica factory where, in addition to their efforts to educate the community about the benefits of spay and neuter, the pair also provide a safe haven for dogs in need. As employers in their local community, Lori and Richard have hired the homeless living on the streets and offered free English classes to the local population as part of their on-going outreach programs.
